Dr. Demetri Michel

PT, DPT, OCS

Dr. Demetri Michel, PT, DPT, OCS, believes exceptional physical therapy starts with a personal connection. A Brooklyn native, Dr. Michel earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Hartford in 2018 and built his career making home-health house calls across southern Brooklyn, where he also served as a Regional Mentor and Clinical Instructor.

Every treatment plan Dr. Michel creates is fully tailored to the individual. Before therapy even begins, he takes the time to truly understand each patient's story, lifestyle, and goals. Through early education and active collaboration, he ensures patients are empowered partners in their own recovery.

As a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist, Dr. Michel treats a wide spectrum of acute and chronic conditions—ranging from complex neurological and vestibular disorders to TMJ, spine pain, and orthopedic injuries. His hands-on, evidence-based approach incorporates advanced techniques including:

  • Manual & Soft Tissue Therapies: Joint mobilization, IASTM, myofascial release, and targeted muscle stretching.

  • Specialized Modalities: Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) therapy and therapeutic taping.

  • Advanced Training: Extensive coursework through MAPS, the Institute of Physical Art (IPA), NAIOMT, and Northeast Seminars.

Dr. Michel holds a special passion for working with overhead throwing athletes and golfers as a Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Certified practitioner.

Born and raised in Bay Ridge, Dr. Michel remains deeply rooted in his local community through Xavier High School and Kimisis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church. Outside the clinic, he stays active with workout routines and sports, relaxes at the beach, and loves spending quality time with his wife Nicole, their son Niko, and their dog Zena.
